What to Expect at Parkview

tim harlow, senior pastor

Whether you are coming back to church after being away for a while, or you’re checking out this church thing for the first time, we want you to know that you are very welcome here!

At Parkview, we try really hard to make sure that “religion” doesn’t get in the way of people having a relationship with God and with each other.

Toward that end, we’re not crazy about rules around here, unless they’re rules that God put in place for our best interest, like “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” If God asks us to do something, we believe we should do it!

But sometimes churches can require things that God doesn’t even ask of us. So you won’t find rules like a dress code that says you have to wear suits and ties or your best dress. How horrible that people might miss out on learning about how much Jesus loves them because they can’t afford a suit!

So come as you are, and share life with us! (Of course, we’re not anti-suit and tie, either! If that’s your thing, there’s certainly nothing wrong with being a “sharp dressed man!”)

Another thing you’ll find out about Parkview is that we also believe in using a whole variety of elements during our worship services to meet people where they are, and to bring God’s word alive in ways that touch hearts and change lives. That means we have a top-notch band and singers who lead us using all kinds of music, from U2 to Amazing Grace. And Pastor Tim also uses things like video and dramatic presentations to enhance his message and to help people remember the biblical truths presented, long after they leave the building.

Finally, Parkview has a huge heart for young people so our Student Ministries is an awesome place for your teens to grow, and our Kidz Connection for children from birth through 5th grade is the perfect place for your kids to learn that Jesus loves them and wants the best for them.

The bottom line is that Parkview is made up of a bunch of imperfect people trying our best to be more and more like Jesus everyday. We hope you’ll join us for one of our weekend services, grab a cup of coffee, and make yourself at home.

Whether you choose to attend our Orland Park or Lockport Campus, our doors are open and there will be people ready to make you feel welcome.
