    Camp LRCA Update

    Friday, June 20, 2008 at 3:00 PM

    Hi Mom and Dad!

Another great day at Camp LRCA! No rain yet to interrupt the fun. Our 3-day campers arrived safely and have had fun at the pizza party and pool.

The 5-day campers are preparing for our visit to Chicagoland Nursing home tomorrow. We are baking cookies, making gifts, and practicing songs for our show. Please pray for us while we are there on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

We are learning a lot about serving from Philippians 2. We've learned that we shouldn't do things selfishly and that we should think about the needs of others before ourselves, because this is what Christ Jesus did for us. Note from Lori: Be sure to use those teaching points at home, Mom and Dad!

We have a full night planned with night swims and hayrides. Cabin devotions have been really fun with our counselors. Sorry that there will not be an update on Saturday because the Parkview office is closed.

See you on Sunday, Mom & Dad. Thanks for letting me come to camp!

    Hi Mom and Dad!

Camping was so great last night! We went on a trust walk. All the kids were blindfolded and our leaders led us to the campfire. It was cool. Even Miss Lori was blindfolded!

This morning we learned about serving friends and some of us went up to the nursing home to deliver invitations to our party on Saturday. We also learned a new song during worship today called "marvelous light." It's really cool and you'll get to hear it on Sunday.

Can you believe that Mr. Tony's group won the clean cabin award?? They did…the boys rule! We've already been canoeing, fishing, done archery, played basketball, and went to the skate park.

Our lunch was burgers and chips and it was pretty good. For the rest of the day we'll go to the pool, have a hayride, play at free time, and do some serving activities.

Thanks for the mail…I love it!

    Hey Family!

We arrived and things are going great! The weather is amazing and the camp is beautiful!

Today we begin our lessons on serving and will take a look at Philippians 2:1-16 and talk about serving families. During the afternoon we have pool time, canteen, free time for an hour, serving stations where we will begin making refreshments and gifts for the senior citizens we will visit on Saturday.

Mr. Bill (Shapkauski) will be sharing tonight at campfire. He's really funny and we can't wait to hear from him. Jr. Counselors Kaitlyn Altmann and Taylor Otto shared a Bible drama today and it was great!

Don't worry, mom and dad, my counselors are great and they'll help me to not be too homesick tonight.

    Thanks for the mail!

    Your loving child!
