FAQ’s
What is the oldest my child can be to get dedicated?
We believe that when a child is old enough to make their own decision to get baptized by immersion, that should be the step they take in their faith in lieu of dedication.
What about godparents?
It is your decision if you want to choose Godparents or not. If you do, they are welcome go forward with you as you dedicate your child if you wish. Also, it is your choice to choose how many Godparents and of which gender you choose for your child.
What should my baby wear?
This is also your choice; however, most show off their beautiful babies in something nicer. Occasionally babies wear a family christening outfit.
What is the dress code for the ceremony?
We are “come as you are” at Parkview so there is no required dress code. Since this is a special occasion in the life of your baby, and many pictures will be taken, most families dress on the nicer side.
How long is the ceremony?
This varies depending on how many babies are getting dedicated at a particular ceremony. It can vary between 20 minutes to an hour.
What if I am a single parent?
You are more than welcome to dedicate your baby at Parkview! The decision to raise your child to know Jesus is one of the most important decisions you can make, and we would be honored to walk alongside you as you take this step.
Do I need to bring anything to the ceremony?
You will be asked with registration to provide a picture of your child and a Bible verse, but there is nothing specific you will need to bring on the day of the ceremony.
