Local Serving

This team will meet and serve at the Restoration Ministries food pantry in Harvey. This is a great opportunity for families. The food pantry is set-up in the gym of the Restoration Ministries headquarters building every Saturday. When you arrive, your Parkview team leader will help you find the perfect place to serve and teach you everything you need to know. Ages 6 and up. We will also introduce you to your Parkview team leader, who will be your guide for the entire serving experience.

You will meet at the Orland Park Campus for a quick training and then break into small teams. Every team will include an experienced leader. Teams will then travel together to the home of a family of an incarcerated individual in the Chicago Heights / South Holland area. Parkview teams have built long-term relationships with these same families over the past years. The team simply spends time with these families. Pray with them. Laughs with them. This team will be working alongside our partners at "The Exodus Projects" in Chicago Heights to help with painting and other projects to spruce up their ministry building. If you volunteer for this team, you will receive an informational email the week prior with the exact location, arrival times and what to expect. We will also introduce you to your Parkview team leader, who will be your guide for the entire serving experience.

This team will be assisting veterans with mobility challenges to move from their rooms to the Rec Room for and 80s Rock Band concert. During the event, you may be assisting the residents with different tasks. You will meet at the Veteran's Home and they will teach you everything you need to know. The best part is just getting to sit and talk to the veterans and hear their stories. Ages 18 and up. This team will have the honor to work alongside our friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities to carry out tasks on the farm. The team will be helping Navarro with vital projects to get the farm ready for their upcoming farmer program, from tending the gardens to beautifying the grounds. Your efforts will make a real difference, creating a welcoming, vibrant space for our community and the farmers who rely on it. It’s a chance to spend time outdoors, get a little hands-on with the farm, and see the impact of your work come to life. This team will be working alongside our partners at "The Exodus Projects" in Chicago Heights to facilitate an event to bless local Mom's in the area. Come and be a part of their hospitality team by welcoming their guests, serving breakfast, and participating in the craft and conversation. Every Friday, "The Exodus Projects" in Chicago Heights provide groceries and a hot lunch for members of their community. They are looking for volunteers to pack grocery bags, serve lunch, or visit with their guests while they enjoy the provided lunch. Do you like to cook? They are also looking for guest chefs! This team will be packing and boxing meals that will be distributed to people in extreme food shortage around the world. If you have never been to Feed My Starving Children, they make serving really fun! This is a great opportunity for families of all ages to serve together. You will meet at the FMSC warehouse in Aurora and they will teach you everything you need to know. This team will have the honor to work alongside our partners at Filling the Gap to help provide people with transitional housing in crucial points in their lives. They are looking for men and women with handyman, construction, or home-improvement skills to help them tackle the finishing touches at Oak House. Whether you’re a professional tradesman, experienced DIYer, or simply someone who knows their way around a toolbox, there’s a place for you. Projects may include: Painting and touch-ups Hanging and installing cabinets Installing faucets and fixtures Baseboards and trim work Hanging doors and hardware Light carpentry Shelving and finishing work Other punch-list projects as Oak House nears completion This newly aquired house will soon be a home for a family in need. The Oak House is in Harvey, IL and that is where you will be working. As confidentiality is key for the residents, the team leader will send your the address of the house in your instructional email before the serve.

This team will meet at the Pan de Vida food pantry in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago to work alongside our ministry partners at New Life Centers. This food pantry does amazing work to help meet the needs of the immigrant community in Little Village. You will be assisting customers in the food pantry, as well as possibly helping with projects in the warehouse. Ages 12 and up.
